10 activities to incorporate movement into the classroom to aid instruction!

Happy Monday :)

Did you know that a student should only be sitting in their seat for the amount of their age!? In reality, my middle schoolers should only be sitting in their seats anywhere from 11-14 minutes at a time. I have compiled a list of 10 activities that will help you incorporate movement into your classroom this upcoming school year! If you have any specific questions about a particular activity feel free to use the chat feature on this blog post or send me a DM on Instagram (@maestraehlert).

1. Scavenger hunts around your classroom or the school

2. Relay races (Check my Instagram for a video of a relay race in action!)

3. Gallery Walks (Have students check out their fellow classmates' work during a gallery walk.)

4. Stations (If you need more ideas on how to implement stations in the Spanish classroom check out this blog post.

5. Stand up if... (Instead of having students simply raise their hand to answer questions in the classroom, they have to stand up to answer or maybe do something else goofy.)

6. 4 Corners (Pose a question to your students & provide them with 4 possible answers. Each answer is correlated to a corner of the room. The student visits the corner of the room that matches the answer they believe to be correct.)

7. Hopscotch (Take your students outside and have them create a hopscotch to reinforce/review a concept. Check my Instagram for a further explanation!)

8. QR Codes (Check out this blog post for more information on how to implement QR codes into your classroom!)

9. Board games! (Already created board games, games you have created, or even have your students create board games! Check out some board games I have created here.)

10. Bouncy Bands (I have not tried these yet, but I am using them this upcoming school year! They attach to the students chairs or desks. Check them out here!)

I hope you have been able to find something that will work in your classroom! If you share one of these ideas please tag @maestraehlert so I can see your classroom action! I love hearing when something works well for you!
